Return from Self-Exile

A pale, iridescent blue moon bathed the icy castle walls in the barren Ipsilon Server, where once again an all too familiar face lurked in the shadows honing her skills that too many believed needn't any further training. Cool orbs of blue characteristically emitting soft pulses of mentholesque blasts from their core adeptly penetrated the vast cerulean horizon before them. Whisps of sapphire hair blew lazily in the air as the slender long arm floated meters above the icy floor upon a crescent-shaped piece of ice. She was adorned in skin tight black body armor with carefully designed sections of missing material that revealed different portions of her torso, legs, and back. At her side floated her weapon, the mysterious Mistglaive-- the orb of water retaining no physical shape at the present. The queen of ice had once again left her comrades after a heated battle in which she was forced to be the enemy. A battle where her powers were magnified tenfold, and the experienced long arm was forced to watch her friends fall in pain before her meticulously powerful blows. She was used; toyed with as though she were but a puppet whose strings were easily tweaked and pulled by the hacker who watched safely from above.

Her head tilted upwards, and she gazed off into the cloudy skies above staring daggers of sharpened ice into the digitized air above. Those long digits curled amongst themselves, and dug icy-blue tipped nails dangerously far into her palms nearly breaking skin in repressed frustration. Then without any warning, she screamed off all of the anguish and aggravation that had bottled up within her for the past year. It was no longer time to hide from her problems. Seconds later, Tokki gated out of the hidden server.

//*-->

The mysteriously dangerous queen of ice nonchalantly walked through a randomized field generated in the Theta server with her mistglaive in her rigt hand. Her head hung low for whatever reason; most likely to avoid drawing attention to herself. The field was of a snow element-- whether or not she was there by sheer coincidence, or by her will was uncertain. Either way, she rather enjoyed the setting as it reminded her very much of the Ipsilon Server realm.

*Crunch*

Tokki stopped short of her next step. Her eyes darted sideways to the left; back to the right. She was being followed. It wasn't a creature, however. She hadn't traveled through any of the golden circles spinning in midair. It was a player-- or players. If so, they picked the wrong character to assault. Tokki continued forward with her eyes lazily closed, listening for the snow behind her to be blemished with more pairs of footprints which she could sense without seeing it. The three average level players took off from their obscure positions. Two blademasters and a twin blade attacked in a very precise formation; obviously it had been practiced and performed before. They did not expect, however, for the next player they attacked to be able to manipulate the very environment in which she walked. When they were within a swords length from Tokki they lashed out in wide arcing motions. Tokki spun to meet them, but did not raise her weapon. Instead large chunks of ice too thick to penetrate with one swing of their blades materialized from nowhere in particular in the path of their swings.

At that moment, Tokki bathed in the fear and surprise in their eyes for that split second between the block and their withdrawal of their weapons. Tokki swung her mistglaive out to the left, a sharp scythe hardening from the globe of water at it's tip-- it slashed through the first blademaster's right side. Quickly she reversed her swing to block the next swing from the second blade master. She dropped her right palm into the snow beneath her and lifted her feet off of the ground and into his jaw, sending him flying into the twin blade who was in mid attack. Tokki stopped in that position on her hands-- strikingly familiar to a breakdancing freeze. Those pools of icy blue pierced into the eyes of her enemies who were shivering in both senses of the word before her. Without any warning, three spikes of ice rose from the ground through the backs of her opponents. They greyed over immediately, and phased out-- back to town. Tokki lowered herself back to the ground, and brushed the snow out of her cerulean locks.

The ground beneath her began to harden, and contort into a crescent shape once again, and her eyes fluttered shut in concentration. Soon, the ice lifted into the air and carried her across the powdery white plains. Keeping balanced was getting easier and easier for her, but the wind in her eyes was never easy for the athletic long arm to get used to. Frequently did she cheat, creating a shield of clear ice in front of her to block the wind. This took even more concentration, and often caused her to turn more clumsily. This no longer presented a problem, tough. Tokki had met a player along the way, and made a straight cash purchase for a pair of icy blue goggles that served it's purpose. Still, she wanted to wean herself off of the goggles, so every time she took off she'd try to stand flyin with her eyes open and bare for as long as she could take it. Amusingly still, Tokki fell from her crescent every so often. When she did, she would turn the ground below into a pool of water to soften her fall, and then miraculously rise out of it completely dry and unbearably angry.

Tokki's eyes fluttered open to a squint, and slowly she began to pick up speed into the distance. The terrain below zoomed by insanely fast; by this time she was high enough to pass over top of the golden circles that initiated area battles. She quite enjoyed the freedom her new-found skill granted her; but what she frequently found herself wondering now was: How helpful would this ability be in battle with her comrades? Soon enough, she would find out.

An admittedly abnormal method of waking from a deep sleep, Tokki jolted upwards abruptly. Those piercing blue eyes fluttered to a squint barely worthy of neglecting the title "closed", and her head cocked back against it's will. Soon thereafter, the young long arm sneezed with unsurprisingly no fervor at all. It sounded like a squeek. No, not even a squeek. A muffled chirp. Tokki lay atop a pillar in the middle of a snow-laden theta field; she brushed a lock of cobalt hair lazily out of her face before peering down to the hilly surface below. The pillar was only about 8 inches in diameter, but a bed of ice balancing atop the column broadened the surface area. A yellow butterfly floated lazily in the air above the girl's location, and soon did it's timed, yet aimless flight become harmlessly disrupted by the unexpected passing of the enigmatic warrior's sudden backflip-- which sent a gust of air into the insects path and caused it to flail wildly in attempt to regain what little control it once had over it's flight. A perfect landing left prints in the snow two feet deep only three feet from the base of the pillar. As much as the often distant polearm wielding female loved her privacy, the length of this leave of absence was enough to cause even the most proud warriors to miss what it was like to be part of a team. Though she never quite got used to reporting to a leader or having to supress what she did best-- her ability to attack rather skillfully on her own, it was inexplicable how fulfilling it was to be involved in a carefully concocted team strategy that successfully catapulted her and several comrades through a difficult challenge.

There would be several things different about her upon her return to the group. She would no longer be such a high level above the majority of the members. Undoubtedly, she had been gone long enough for most of the low level fighters to have gotten close to, if not surpassed her level. Furthermore, she no longer had her wings or her Shiva's Rings she had won after defeating Tsurugi, wielder of the fiery polearm "Berserker", in a large tournament. In some way this made the idea of returning all the more intriguing. Third, and possibly most important in the factors alluding to her ultimate decision to return to battle was the anxiety she had towards finding out how well her fellow teammates had improved their powers. Though she too had been training herself to be more efficient with her abilities with ice, some people had only grazed the surface of their latent abilities within The World. For some reason, she had found herself especially interested in the character who called himself "Reinier".

Yes... Tokki mused to herself coyly. The one with the obnoxious dragon. For some reason, when he was around, I felt as if I connected with him on a level I could not explain. But due to the circumstances upon meeting him, and perhaps my all to distant personality, never did I even formally introduce myself. This will have to change.

She could distinctly remember that even though he was one of the new additions to the group, he showed an uncanny knack for strategy and an indominable will to take on one of the most powerful long arms in the game. Anyone who would stand up to someone with power so much higher than their own is a warrior worth her respect. There were others in said battle that dove right in without any strategy at all. Some of them found themselves incapacitated rather quickly because of such unworthy stratagems. But it wasn't just Reinier's strategy and willpower, but something much more intangible that made Tokki yearn to get closer to him. It was almost as if something was beckoning her to the heavy blade's very chakra.

The twenty-four inch deep footprints that encased Tokki's feet and shins suddenly begun to fill, lifting her back to the level surface. It was time to locate the rest of her comrades. No more would she allow herself to break away from the only players she could really connect to within The World anymore. No longer would she make any excuses to let her friends down. From now on, she would fight.
