The Rebirth of Tokki

Post by Tokki » Sun Mar 06, 2005 12:00 am

Prologue

It is common knowledge, whether amongst the educated society with half a mind it is overlooked as stereotype, that most asian females are born with certain deficiencies in areas of physical appearance compared to those of other racial backgrounds-- these deficiencies of course only being characterized as such by the society itself. It is also understood by many that for whatever reason one wishes to accept, these asian females are also born with a higher intelligence quotient, as well as a higher aptitude for learning and a general will to achieve more than the usual person throughout life.

Of course there would be no stereotype without those who do not follow this tenuous set of general characteristics. There are Asian girls born with more developed physiques, and those with less than average intelligence just as there are in every race. However, some would call those girls who are born with the advantageous characteristics of both types of girls uncommonly lucky. To be blessed with both beautiful bodies and minds alike would be reason to believe so.

These characteristics have obviously been narrowed down to science-- certain genes evoking certain phenotypes within each and every child. So it may not be as much "luck" as a series of deoxy ribonucleic coincidences. It is belief that one born on the year of the tiger is also blessed with unusual luck. The tiger is another species of animal that has a particular genetic outcome that is considered infinitely rare, if not an anomaly.

The white tiger is born of the usual bengal tiger but with a specific gene causing the tiger to be distinctively different from it's parent specie. However, if one merely considered the average bengal tiger to be the usual tiger with deficiencies, much like the stereotypical average asian girl, and the white tiger to be those born with a more enhanced physique. Then one could almost ponder the possibility of those tigers that are born with the enhanced physique and some other advantageous characteristic that would make it more rare than even the rest of it's brethren.

A white tiger that unlike it's comrades could hunt well both at night and in the daytime. One that could swim amazingly like the rest of it's species, but had acrobatical balance that allowed it to climb with an uncanny level of skill as well. One that could mock it's predecessors through action, by displaying the speed of a cheetah amidst the others who could sprint no faster than the common domesticated house dog.

Surely, these ideals were taken into mind when certain conditional codes were included in development of two events embedded deep within The World, encompassing the emergence of two figural anomalies. For somewhere deep within the digitalized world, there lay the unspoken legend of rare tiger born amongst a species of the feline that held the key towards the fulfillment of an enigmatic destiny. And at the moment of that birth would another birth also occur-- or better, a rebirth, whos destiny that tiger would serve to help fulfill...

Ipsilon Server

Image

If ever there was a climate with the ability to deter all that may even ponder inhabiting it-- it's extremes such that even the most fierce warriors and most courageous souls dare not enter-- this server was it. A frozen hell. Known by the inhabitants that by some horrible ounce of luck fell upon it's location never to return as the "Wetslum", it doesn't exist in the active minds of players; only in the recessive mind of the game itself (except for the few dedicated hackers and scripters that may have come across the anomaly in the games code that represented it) does it lie.

It was created to host an enigmatic event, and house the entity that would eventually reign over it. A player character enveloped by the game and taken against it's will to be reborn alongside it's familiar that would lead it back into The World's conventional servers to seek out it's destiny. One could say the character Tokki was put into an icy sleep, her memories being jogged, and her focus being trained on something other than survival in the already dangerous game.

Tokki was already a unique character in The World. With the latent ability to control water and ice, which had been fused into her character code unbeknownst to her before she even first logged into The World, she already was revered by many as one of the most powerful fighters in the game even at a low level. As a mere level 16 Long Arm, she won a prestigious tournament, slaying all in her path mercilessly despite the intense competition.

The last thing Tokki would remember, whenever those memories would fully return to her, was helping out a group of skilled fighters under the leadership of a warrior known only as Nall against monsters not originally intended for the casual player of The World in attempt to save not only themselves, but the entire population of The World from certain destruction.

However soon after one of their quests, Tokki disappeared. Because none of the members of the group were tied into service in any way, it wasn't mulled over too intensely what happened to the mysterious long arm. And to anyone outside of the group, she was just another player who found something better to do outside of playing the massively multiplayer online role playing game.

It wasn't as simple as Tokki deciding to leave the game, however. Her data had been streamed into the game itself, and transfered to a recessive area of the games server database where it would be inaccessable by the scrutiny and deevaluation of the games staff and administration.

It was a backdrafted server, Ipsilon, that Tokki was eventually reborn in with a completely new purpose and a distinctive new character design-- albeit recognizable by any of her old comrades with her shining cerulean hair, and sexy appearance. Born alongside her was her familiar, the white tiger Mizu. The animal never left her side, and in this desolate server, it was indeed her only friend. They trained together, traveled together, and in this server, ruled together.

But soon the time would come where she would have to merge with the intended game servers, and find her niche in the intricate, digital world amongst the other players and find a use for her amazing abilities. That time drew nearer for her-- she could feel it. As she peered out of a icy window from the palace of ice she had constructed in the middle of the server's root town, she gazed into cyberspace asking inwardly:

"How much longer?"

A circular arena, it's seats made of crystalline cascading floes of ice that were as unpopulated as the server itself, seemed to have a gross total temperature vastly lower than it's immediate surroundings. At one end, standing with her arms crossed gently acrossd her lightly covered chest, was the queen of ice and supreme ruler over the Ipsilon server. Of course, that title was obvious when she was really one of a meager 8 to 10 players that inhabited it, with no NPCs or administrators in surveillance.

A pearlescent sky-blue camisol, embroidered with intricate golden designs upon it's edges covered either side of her torso, cupping her breasts and leaving a bare line between them from her neck to her navel. A darker, more violet color embraced her gloves and boots, which were also embroidered with the same golden crestlike designs around their rims. At her shoulders following her contours around the back of her head was a ceremonial silver battle head dress encrusted with sapphire gems, it's deep, mystical cerulean hues seeming almost alive and pulsing within it.

Perhaps not as peculiar as it's function, was a sash of white fur that hung around her neck and her waist. It shimmered with an elegance that was not its own, and seemed to capture the faint glow of the enigmatic globe of pulsating water and ice that floated around Tokki's frame in a steady, diagonal motion.

Perhaps the most threatening attribute to the cerulean-haired warrior was the bone-chilling stare in her eyes' sapphire pools. During battle, if one visible organ could be charged with the function of controlling the vixen of the arctic's ever-fluid motions, those beautiful eyes with the captivating irises would have to be the obvious choice. They danced around almost to the sound of silent war drums that commanded Tokki's body through it's routine-like graceful actions. Flickering left. Darting right. Focusing and refocusing, straining and relaxing.

If one could read between the lines and understand their opponents eyes, it almost certainly would be an advantage that would deem one invincible.

Tokki, previously stoic and unmoving, blinked twice-- two unnatural blinks. Consequently, the hardened casing of ice that held shut two sets of iron doors dissipated into mist, and the slow creaking of the metal sounded through the vast coliseum. The doors eventually followed the hinges, crashing into the opposite wall with a loud clattering noise that sounded like a gigantic chain-linked fence had been kicked twice. Soon after they hit the wall, another thick casing of ice appeared at the corners of each door, pinning the doors open.

A low, gutteral moan; another-- both came from within the now opened cages on the far side of the arena; Tokki made no move to shift her focus nor did she lose her composure at the onlooking threats that soon emerged from their oversized playpens.

Energy swirled around two, massive stone figures that bounded upwards into the air upon exiting their prisons of ice. Soon, they rocketed back towards the earth again, paused for a moment as if looking for the one responsible for their emancipation-- a favor that surely was worthy of gratitude, yet would only yield danger from single-minded beasts of the world such as these two Goil Menhirs.

No sooner than they had exited their confining quarters after the doors were opened, had they begun their advancement towards Tokki, pounding the terrain furiously with wide, bouncing motions. The first Menhir that came upon the Long Arm started it's final downward slam towards her frame with a velocity that had been garnering momentum since it started moving; now it was moving frighteningly fast.

Tokki still had not moved-- the only motion detectable on her body was in her irises of stone cold cyan, which rose to meet the oncoming mass of matter. Almost as if it was connected to her eyes with invisble strings pulled taut with an unseen force, the ball of ice and water stopped directly in the path between Tokki's eyes and the attacker, changing into just one shape of the everchanging Mistglaive, and stopping the advance in mid flight.

Tokki's eyes widened, the extra effort she was using with her mind to fling the Goil Menhir backwards and into it's comrade showing through her eyes once again. The awkward shaped fiend, bearing the thunder element, crashed headlong into the other, sending both of them awkwardly to the floor. A number flashed over them both, miniscule damage as expected, followed by a brief flash of the bar that gauged their hit points which Tokki could plainly see was refilling instead of emptying.

That is how she had planned it, however. For what seemed like weeks now, Tokki had been training in this facility with Mizu, battling the tenacious Goil Menhirs in pairs because it gave her the longest training period. The two monsters were several levels above her, and were equipped with the ability to heal the other, and continuously were regenerating due to Rig Saem. It assured that they would not go down too easily so that she could get a couple hours out of each workout session.

The two clunky, statuesque enemies begun their advance again, this time swirling in their hops as if in some way they believed this to be a more advanced tactic more difficult for it's opponents to handle. Tokki, still with her arms crossed nonchalantly across her chest, failed to move an inch. She had been practicing this style of combat for a while. Training her mind to have the most accurate reflexes and conserving her energy as much as possible in a battle. She would not even lift a finger if she didn't have to.

A previously weaker Tokki would have wasted her precious stamina running about and acrobatically taking out her enemies while using her blessed abilities scarcely. But reborn, she would no longer be satisfied with being "rumored as an excellent fighter," she would be feared and make all who took her too lightly rue that day. She would make a fool out of the cocky, and an example of the insolent.

When she had reappeared in the world, and immediately set out with her rare familiar, Mizu, she quickly noticed the weaknesses in her believed unmatched weapon, the Mistglaive. She saw no reason for it's solid, metallic handle, and disposed of it, deciding to keep it completely constructed out of ice and water. Simply training to battle with the mistglaive without her hands had made her exceptionally talented in controlling her powers when it came to fine-tuned, intricate maneuvers. It took little to no effort to manipulate the weapon, and amounts of water and ice that were similar to it in size and volume.

The doppleganger weapon shifted again, this time turning into a swallow, the blade on either side a menacingly sharp blade of ice. She gave the silent command with her mind, and the blade spun rapidly, creating an illusionary blur, and slicing into the left side of the first spinning Menhir several times, eventually causing it to stagger off course and skip over the ground like a pebble tossed by a child at a neighborhood lake. Soon afterwards, the weapon reversed it's spin, and changed into the form of an ice harpoon.

The second menhir was coming full speed towards Tokki's face, it's wide bottom casting a shadow twice as large over Tokki's body, which still had not flinched a bit. Before the statue slammed into Tokki's forehead, inevitably crushing her skull completely and ending her session, the harpoon pierced completely through the top of the Menhir's skull, and stopped, causing the large body to fail to continue it's motion and snag on the harpoon in mid air, stopping completely just inches from the ice queen's nose.

The back end of the harpoon hardened, and soon the weapon begun to spin about, twirling the statue around in the air. With a calculated precision, the harpoon retracted from the top of the fiend's head, and flung the statue directly into the other who had just begun to recover from it's last spill.

The force of the slingshot effect caused by the harpoon sent both menhirs bounding over the floor of the arena and into the icy rows of stadium seating. Not a dent was visible in the ice-- it was far to hard to be dented by brute force. There weren't many things other than Tokki and intense heat that could make an impact in her coliseum.

A silent sigh of impatience escaped the Long Arm's lips-- she wasn't exactly willing to wait for the slow, lumbering fiends to return to the center of the arena through their incessant hopping; a ridiculously slow method of travel. The area of ice around the two menhirs suddenly rippled outwards from the side of the coliseum, flinging the two back out into the floor abruptly. The coliseum reshaped, and Tokki's allowed her eyes to lower to the recovering sparring partners.

A slight pause was all they needed, and they were up again, more than half their hit points in tact through the effects of Rig Saem. Tokki frowned. Perhaps the most irritating constraint this games rules had on her was that despite how incredibly fast she could make her weapon swing and parry with her mind, the damage it did would never exceed the amount her character could deal determined by her strength and the power of her water element.

She knew that the attacks she was landing were incredibly powerful, but the damage would not reflect the force of the impact behind them. Therefore she had no choice but to train-- and train hard. She had to increase her level to increase her stats. It was the only way.

To her, the only way she could ever lose a fight would be due to the constraints of the games character statistics, which would betray the truth about her fighting ability. She didn't want that to be the reason for a death-- so she fought hard to prevent it.

Tokki for the first time, moved her arms from across her chest. One hand called the mistglaive to her, and the other swiftly removed the mysterious white sash from around her neck and waist and let it sag to the floor. From the coiled fur in the ground lept Mizu, her white tiger and comrade in battle. The tiger lept high into the air, and roar loudly, the deafening growl rattling the very foundations of the arena.

As it's mammoth paws struck the floor of the arena, causing deep indentations under it's force, the ensuing shockwave caused both a blast of wind and administered an area-wide Suvi Lei, paralyzing both Goil Menhirs in their place. Her opponents were now powerless to prevent their destruction, and Tokki planned to take advantage of that.

Tokki leapt onto the back of Mizu, and charged forward with a mighty roar. She held the shining mistglaive out to her right, and glowered ahead at her targets with not even a glimmer of distraction in her diligent visage. One leap from the two menhirs, the weapon turned into a rod with a ball of ice at the end bearing numerous sharpened ice spikes. Tokki reared back, and bashed the morning star of ice directly into the face of the Menhir on the right, while the tiger passed between the two enemies.

In the same swift motion, Tokki brought the weapon over Mizu's head, and back around hard into the back of the other Menhir's skull. The blows left shards of ice embedded deep in the craterous wounds where the mistglaive had struck.

Tokki followed through with the last swing, allowing her entire body to spin around and off of the tiger. Her opposite hand didn't let go of Mizu, keeping hold of a tuft of fur-- when her feet touched the ground, that hand, now flung Mizu, returning to it's less conspicuous form, around her neck and waist. She watched as the two statues turned grey, and faded from existence before her eyes.

After they disappeared, six sharp spikes clattered gently to the floor where the fiends had previously been. Tokki held out the mistglaive, and the chunks of ice quickly returned to it once more.

She held the weapon up in front of her, and expanded it into a flattened, circular mirror of ice. She peered into it, and brushed a stray lock of hair away from her eyes.

"I'm still failing to break a sweat," She thought, disappointedly. "It's obvious that the challenge I need will not be found within this server."

She looked upwards at the moon, a pale blue color that seemed to wash the entire countryside with it's infecting sense of insufferable monotony. She desperately needed to escape just that. Monotony is not what she was intended for-- that much she was sure of. She gently stroked the white sash of fur around her neck as she started towards the towering coliseum doors to head back to her palace of ice. It was then that she made the decision, yet she couldn't help but feel the decision had already been predetermined for her.

"It's time, Mizu," she spoke forebodingly to her familiar. "I can wait no longer."
