Welcome to the Hidden Server Yamiyo.

Welcome to the Root Town Luchairt Cradh, the Castle of Torment.

If you're here, you know what we are. If you're here, you belong. Of course, not all of our residents are nice people. Be prepared to watch your back, and fight if you need to. There are no laws here. Just don't disturb those high above you, or retribution will be swift. Explore the town, find a niche for yourself, and don't cause trouble you can't handle.

FAQ

Q: Do the Freedom Fighters have a hideout in Yamiyo?
A: If they do, it's long-defunct, or taken over by other forces.

Q: Are there players in Yamiyo who can log out?
A: Yes. Most of them think they're playing a Private Server and aren't playing a part of The World patrolled by the Admins. As such, most of the simply cosmetic hacks and other things aren't common. Most of them try for more power. Also, most of those who can log out are Mercenaries.

Q: Is there a dice-based chance of being accosted in the town?
A: Only if I'm rolling for determining the type of event that happens. Chances are if you're getting accosted, something was going to happen there, I just might not necessarily have known what.

Q: What are the responses to monsters breaking in to the Bazaar, Elemental, and Uncommon districts?
A: Monsters rarely break into the Bazaar, and if they do, they are quickly swarmed and overrun, from the many side streets. When they break into the Elemental district, special denizens of the Gan Sector, called appropriately enough Gate Guards, either dispatch the beast or send it back into the wastes. As for the Uncommon district, only the Physical Tolerant make it past the gate, and those are easily dispatched by forces from the Odd Elementalists or Stitchers.

Q: Can you buy regular items in Yamiyo Bazaar?
A: Yes. The list of Bazaar-only items are obviously only found for sale in the Bazaar. Regular items can be found anywhere, through special item kiosks. These look like a cross between a stone pillar and a vending machine, and can be found in random corners of every section of Yamiyo. The people in the Bazaar will also sell regular items, but far more rarely, because they're freely available anywhere.

Q: Are there any available maps of Yamiyo, publicly posted or otherwise?
A: Not really. People here know the place by feel and by reputation. The best map you'll ever find was on the prison computer. In town, you might find partial or incomplete maps in people's shops or memories, but they're likely to be flawed. The city changes over time, after all. The most sure-fire way to find where you're going is to ask.

Yamiyo Server is a wild, hostile place. It is far larger than any other single server, and has a population more immense than can be imagined. It is a haven for anyone with something to hide. Everyone from the Elite Hackers and their direct underlings, to people with little more than slight buffs or cosmetic changes. The one common bond is, here, everyone has something to hide from the Admins, and here, they are safe. Here, no one asks questions.

In the center of the town is a massive castle. It dominates the sky. This is the haven of the Unseen King, the Master of All. Surrounding it are eight citadels. Each is the domain of one of the Elites, those they call gods.

Miles of untamed wasteland surround these central castles. Entry and exit is done by a network of local Chaos Gates. Only those invited can enter the castles through the Gates. The rest brave the wasteland.

Within the Wasteland are hordes of monsters. Everything from the lowly Mad Grass to hacked monsters more powerful than the strongest hacker. There is a standing challenge; brave the wasteland and climb one of the citadels. Meet the Elite of your choice, and you can gain power untold.

Few make the trek and live to tell the tale.

The Districts are huge. They sprawl beyond the reaches of a normal root town. One is filled with the hackers who dedicate themselves to one element or another. Another is dedicated to those who take their hacking beyond the level most would consider normal. A third is the haven for all who are "normal", players with hacked weapons or small powers that give them an advantage but do not hack themselves. These are Mercenaries. The final district is where anything can be bought and sold.

Travel is free and unrestricted to any between these four districts. After all; if you're here, you're one of them. Monsters are rare outside the wasteland, but they do appear, occasionally. The biggest threat comes from each other. People will steal each others stuff. People will kill. There is no law here. Usually, however, people are civilized. Why kill when you can deal, and have a friend rather than an enemy?

Note: While the time of day, weather, and atmosphere is always changing in the Wastelands, in the town itself, it is always night time, with only a few high clouds to obscure the starry sky.

The center of Yamiyo is a tower hundreds of stories high, if not more. It's exact height is unknown to the common denizen of Yamiyo, as it has never been completely scaled. At least, never been scaled by any who chose to tell the tale. It's a crazy mess of space and time. Sections of it are crumbled and hover, disconnected. Waterfalls of fluids, water, blood, oil, and other less identifiable substances splash out from the tower. Some fall down, and others flow upwards into the sky.

It is surrounded by eight towers of half the height, varying in appearance depending on the owner's taste. These are the citadels of the Elites, one for each element. One would expect the Water and Earth towers would lay dormant, their occupants deceased, but the citizens of the city have noticed no difference.

The citadels are surrounded by a vast swatch of untamed land. This is called by many names; the Wasteland, the Wilderness, the Wild, the Hedge, the Wall, the Scrapyard. The area is fixed, surrounded on the outside by a wall. The terrain inside is not so stable. It constantly changes between field types, weather patterns, and population. The monsters there range anything from mad grass, to level 100 beasts, to hacked monsters more powerful than any seen elsewhere. Some, the likes of which have only ever been defeated by the Freedom Fighters themselves.

Admission to the Wasteland is granted to any who wish to challenge it, to train or to fight their way to an audience with the Elite of their choice. Survival, on the other hand, is rare. It's not unheard of to come across the ghosts of fallen players lost in the maze of ever-shifting terrain, who offer rewards to those who revive them. Or double cross those who waste the SP on Rip Maen.

- Tower of the Master, also known as the Tower of Life and Death, the Supreme Tower, the Master's Tower, the Dimension Gate, and World's End. It's description is above.
- Xenobia's Tower, also known as Gaia's Embrace. Her tower is made from the trunk of a giant tree.
- Jett's Tower, also known as the Tower of Stone. His tower is a massive single monolith of stone.
- Rugudorull's Tower, also known as the Tower of Heaven's Wrath. His tower is made of electricity and steel, constantly arcing and in flux.
- Garaa's Tower, also known as the Twilight Citadel. His castle is made of brick, stone, and shadow.
- Kuja's Tower, also known as the Cascade Tower. His tower is made of water held in place by glass, flowing in the walls and floors.
- Melzas' Tower, also known as the Frozen Spire. His tower is predictably made of ice, serene in it's light dusting of snow.
- Klive's Tower, also known as the Inferno Tower. His tower is made of fire and magma. It is also sometimes known as the Infernal Tower.
- Royce's Tower, also known as the Tower of Illusion. Her tower is made of white stone and crystal, gleaming in the light.

Mercenaries are not hackers in the traditional sense. Often they would more likely fit the bill of a Script Kiddy. They don't create hacks of their own. All of their powers are borrowed, gifted, or stolen. More often than not, the only thing setting the common Yamiyo Mercenary apart from the common player in Mac Anu is a hacked weapon of exceptional strength, or a singular power giving them an advantage in combat. Often whole squads of mercs are given the same powers so they can train and work as a team. So, despite their underpowered nature, their team mentality and ability to work together with their powers makes them dangerous.

Commanders of the Mercenaries are stronger and have more powers, a collection they have built up. What use is GP in a city where near everyone can give themselves as much as they require? Instead, the mercenaries are paid in power, weapons, items, and sometimes favors to be called in from hackers.

The Mercenary camps are a wide open field with hundreds of tents and small buildings scattered about. The larger and better-guarded tents and fortifications are held by the more powerful mercenary groups, while other scattered tents hold the less successful, newer, or less established groups. The entire field is held orderly only by a faint system of roads, little more than cobbled ruts in the ground.

This is also perhaps the most violent area outside of the Wasteland. Rival groups can and will fight amongst themselves with little care to what they damage, save for caution around the biggest groups. Retribution is swift and deadly. Rarely do monsters from the Wastelands roam openly, but resistance to one breaking in is disorganized.

The Elemental District is the location of the vast majority of the hackers. Almost everyone who hacks chooses one or more elements to specialize in. This area is split up into six segments, one for each of the common elements. This is where novice hackers go to get their training, and where the most common abilities are developed. Each of the six segments is technically ruled over by it's corresponding Elite, but those illustrious personages rarely deign to descend to the lower level. Instead, each is ruled over by a Master, who in turn reports to the Elite. Currently, there is unrest in the Earth area, as news of the death of Jett reaches them. They wonder if their Master will take over the mantle of Elite, and if so, who will replace the current Master. Additionally, the fire sector is ablaze with rumors about Klive, who is either dead, sick, injured, missing, hiding, or perfectly fine, depending on who you ask.

Oddly, while there were Two elites of Rue, Kuja and Melzas, the division between denizens of the lower ranks was almost nothing. Now, with Kuja dead and Ice given the edge over Water, tensions are flaring up. Some want the position of Water Elite to be removed completely, while others push for the current Master of Water to be raised in status to Elite. This Master has no comment of their own, at least publicly.

Interestingly, while there are two Masters of Rue, there is only one Rue Castle. Even more interestingly, Ani has two castles, but only one ruler.

Each area connects to a central plaza, and though they connect to each other, most tend to use the plaza for travel. As a result, the central plaza with it's Chaos Gate has become one of the most heavily populated areas in all Yamiyo.

The Gan Sector is an area of stone, brick, and adobe buildings. Many have flat or slightly sloped rooftops. The air is dry and dusty. Many of the players wandering around seem to favor defense over offense, carrying shields or wearing heavy plate armor.

The Juka Sector is the opposite of the Gan. It is essentially a forest with the trees carved or woven into buildings, or with buildings of wood perched on the ground or high in trees. The streets are "paved" in grass. The players here vastly favor fantasy tropes as character appearances, from elves and faeries to wolves and deer-men. Many players play instruments on street corners. The area has a very serene feeling.

The Rue Sector is a land of marble and of crystal and of water. The roads are smoothly paved in limestone and seem to have no wear. The streets are crossed and re-crossed by flowing streams, and fountains are everywhere. Players here favor an aristocratic mode of dress. The whole place has the atmosphere of an academic area.

The Vak Sector is densely built with buildings made of volcanic glass and rock. The air is hot, like lava boiling just below the surfaces of the roads. The roads are indeed warm to the touch, so this may not be far from the truth. The players here overwhelmingly support their Master; some with religious fervor, others with military discipline. Almost all natives wear red, and many are in some form of military dress.

The Ani Sector is made of old, rundown buildings placed haphazardly around each other, giving the pocked and marred streets a sinister air. Many of the buildings are adorned with bones, limbs, and other tokens of gruesome interests. The players move with a furtive air, as if it isn't safe to be out, though it's no more dangerous than any other sector.

The Rai Sector is made of metal. Buildings are made of plates and the roads are paved in slabs of iron. Spikes coat every available surface like the cover of a death metal album. The people here are either scantily clad in anime-like skimpy armor, or in heavy suits of plate that clomp as they move. The ground is dusty and the air is gritty; the metal rusts and fills the air with a red haze.

Notable Locations:
Colored Dots: Castles of the Masters
- The Vak Castle is in the shape of a large forearm and fist sticking into the air. It's in a large plaza and is surrounded by holographic fire.
- The Ani Castles are two halves of the same giant skull, perched upright. It is made entirely of bone.
- The Juk Castle is a mountain of rubble covered in glowing runes, with entrances and exits all along it's height. It is covered in mosses and small trees, giving it the impression of immense age.
- The Rue Castle is a mansion made of white stone, crystal, water, and ice. It is adorned with hundreds of carvings on every available surface, many of which are also fountains.
- The Rai Castle is a tower of spikes with a vast pit in front of it. The only entrance to the tower is in the spike-walled pit. The Master, Rikirion, sits in the pit and faces all challengers.

2: Velvet's School for Users of Darkness Elemental Weapons

The so-called "Uncommon District" is one of the more frightening and disturbing places in Yamiyo, but also one of the calmest. It has the lowest population, but also houses some of the most powerful hackers not residing in the Citadel itself. It is the location of the purely physical hackers, those who choose to specialize in their class rather than their element. It is also the location of those who choose to create their own class.

Moreover, and more dangerously, it is the location of the hackers who specialize in the "odd elements" such as Metal and Light. Though their population is light, their power is not. Beyond them lie the Stitchers, a name for the hackers who take their obsession to a deep level. These are hackers like Suraisu, who replaced his blood with metal. These hackers are often mentally unbalanced, unstable individuals, and are much more dangerous because of it.

The Uncommon District is split into five sections; three for the physical specialists, and two for the Elementalists and Stitchers. Like the Elemental District, the Uncommon has gates between the sections as well as the central plaza. Unlike the Elemental District, however, travel is just as frequent between areas as it is through the plaza. Except, of course, for the nightmarish Stitcher sector, which most tend to avoid for fear of becoming an experiment themselves.

Here, too, dwell Masters. Those in the physical sectors are Masters of Arms, and freely associate with one another. The Odd Elementalist Master is reclusive and rarely seen. The Stitcher Master is well-known to be insane, unruly, and ridiculously powerful. Only the bravest dare to attempt a meeting, and may would prefer the Wastes.

Notable Locations:
-Castles of the Masters

Stitchwork Castle, home of the Patchwork King, Master of the Stitcher Sector. It's appearance is as schizophrenic as the people in the sector, and changes without warning.

The Bazaar is a sprawl of buildings, tents, stalls, booths, pavilions, gazebos, and other constructions that house players. These players will buy or sell nearly anything, trading currency, items, and just about anything else. Here, anything can be bought and sold, for the right price. Here, pickpockets thrive. Here, gambling is common and encouraged. Here, the clink of coins is as common as the clash of blades.

This is the location of the Colosseum where the oldest Freedom Fighters fought in the dark tournament.

Some of what can be bought, and the standard prices, is below.
