BTW i think turns would work quite well after a little trial and error to see how i would work

I like the certain number of posts per day... that sounds good. though of course there would be exceptions. for example if we're fighting the hacker girl and a good number of us are online then we'd let people post more... but ya ^^;

I think that's a good idea Nall, but how many posts do you guys think would be reasonable? I don't want to restrict people too much, because that'll just make it a bit boring, so I'm not sure exactly how many would be good...

maybe we should take all the people posting in a particular field and average the posts. that might make a reasonable number. some people would have to slow down (ME) and some would almost have to speed up.

Having turns for a party would be a good idea so everyone has to put in something to the adventure and so it's not all on the shoulders of one person to roleplay

I've been trying not to over-post... like trying to make sure I only post once each time Nall or Gingitsune post. I think sometimes I might post twice between their posts, but I'm not posting as many times as I think about it! *laughs*

That's just my way of attempting to keep it a little easier on everyones' posts to read. Just cuz I can get on at wierd times of the day doesn't mean people really want to see a thread with posts: someone, Armina, someone else, Armina, etc. I know that can be uber-annoying!

Anyway, that's just what I'm doing to try & be considerate...

maybe if you made the turns more general, like after you post once you have to wait a certain number of posts before you can post agian

I think turns are a great idea and make the story go much smoother, though how long you wait before skipping should be left to the members to decide. Basically i'd say give them 15 min, before you cover for them, though most people go with 10.
Also the messaging is a good idea too.

But what about when not everyone is posting(in a side plot especially) daily, there was over seven hours where I was the only one who posted anything that actually progressed the story. Turns probably work better when either

a)main plot
b)side plot where people are constantly posting

What about an Admin posts first to get it going and then everyone else posts going in alphabetical order. Then instead of waiting, say if a person has to go, we post again, going in order without them. We'd post a new post every hour or whatever and so as not to leave the person behind, we make a post for them in our own post? Just a suggestion, probably won't work but, hey, I tried, right?

Well thats almost a good idea. The only problem, is whats gonna happen to poor Zavier? I think that what you could do there is have a admin start, then let everyone take one turn posting(only once though). Then thats the order that you go in.

Also i think that it would be a good idea for people to post when they can be on to post in there profiles. I mean if you are gonna wait for someone to post and they can't go till like 6 hours latter and everyone else is on, its only fair to the greater number of people to skip right? In that case, you can always allow that person to step in when they got the chance. I guess that could mess with the order, but after that one out of place post, you simply return to it.

It could work, but it needs some work.

Eh

Also it would get kind of boring how we'd always be posting after the same person-- that wouldn't do much for the originality and creativity of the plot. The best part about each post is the random staticness of it all. The way people can link the posts together using some creative cliffhanger or setup. I think a scheduled posting time would be a bad idea.

I think that turns is a good idea but it would be confusing and difficult for large groups as others have said but I think that when you start a topic you could be able to set the rules for turns like how many turns you get and when you have to do it.
