Akira...

I gotta say, read the manga. It will be so much more enjoyable.

but then again, most mangas are. anything made from a book to a movie, loses alot of the cool little things. Like in GTO. or Real Bout High School, or anything..

I've seen Akira, actually like last night I bought it, strange

Anywho, I know there's the original verison and then there's the special edition. Then they have the English version and the Subtitled version. I don't think there's really any real difference between any of them besides the special having a newer to feel to, but yah it's violent.

Does anyone watch any anime or read mangas OUTSIDE what is shown on the usual shows. Like Toonami and all that crap?

Oh has anyone seen Iria: Zeiram the Animation?

i get a magazine called shonen jump, which is new in the states, but goes to just about everyone in japan. it has several mangas in it, including:
Dragon ball z
Yu Yu Hakusho
Naruto
Shaman King
Yu Gi Oh
and One Piece.
all of them are pretty good, but the dbz i have already seen so it's all old to me.

I don't usually read manga series of the anime that I'm watching, so far I'm reading/have read:

Paradise Kiss (awesome style, such a good series!)
Wish
Kodocha no Omocha
Cowboy Bebop (I couldn't resist!)
Card Captor Sakura
Magic Knight Rayearth

I'd say more obsessed now than before, but in different ways.
I'm more picky now about what anime I watch, I won't just watch anything with a Japanese name in the credits, I'll look for the best series and not really waste my time with the others.
However, the series I do like, I get really into- and I cosplay now and go to conventions and do overall Fangirl stuff like that :D
Before I used to just watch anything, but now I make an effort to watch and buy the series that I really like.
