This battle was not looking good for Phoenix as he suffered multiple blows from Kurai. He was breathing heavily as the duel was wearing him down. He did not understand why Kurai is using only blunt ways to attack him but he suspects that Kurai want to have a little fun with him. The smoke created from the falling bamboo allow Phoenix to cast Repth on himself before attacking Kurai again. He was able to regain somewhat a normal breathing pattern from the Repth spell.

Phoenix ran through the smoke and began to attack Kurai like a wild animal. His sword swings were ineffective against the very clam Kurai as he gracefully avoid his swings. Phoenix continued to attack Kurai but with no effectiveness at all. He was using up all his energy trying to get a hit on him when suddenly, Kurai gave Phoenix another punch to the ribs. At that point, Phoenix stop trying to attack Kurai as he was breathing heavily once again. Kurai follow up with his punch with a right uppercut at Phoenix's jaw. The force of the uppercut knocked Phoenix to the ground. Phoenix gets back up and swang his sword at Kurai again only to meet a punch in the head as Kurai avoided the sword swing and was knocked down by it. Suddenly, Phoenix realized the error of his ways when he was on the ground.

He allowed his anger to take control of him and not analyzing the battle as he usually does. Pure strength cannot win against him but maybe tactics can win this battle. He lay on the ground pretending to be dead as Kurai was looking over him. Kurai was wondering if his opponent was dead or not and began to approach Phoenix's body but there was a suprise waiting for him. Phoenix quickly got up and yell out Rue Slash. Phoenix's sword was swinging from above his head hoping to cut off Kurai's right arm but only getting a cut on his right forearm as Kurai moved to his left to avoid the Rue Slash attack. Somehow, Phoenix had managed to draw blood on the powerful Long Arm but he was nearly out of energy until he cast another Repth spell on himself. Phoenix and Kurai look at each other as the fire burns throughout the bamboo forest as they prepared for each other's attacks.

Hijinx wasn't happy. Pheonix was beyond a doubt ot of control, and all the fire was doing was ticking her off. Crossing her arms and tapping a foot in aggravation, she listened intently. She could hear the blademasters pet not too far away, gingitune making her way towards the battlefield, and pheonix generally getting smacked around by kurai. Cracking her knuckles and neck she runs into the smoke where she hears pheonix, apparently in a blind rage, judging from the glimpses she would get between the smoke. Jumping forward, she thrust her feet forward and readies herself for impact. Pheonix wasn't going to be conscious after this hit. Maybe that would calm the blademaster down a little, and give hijinx a chance to call gingitsune to kurai, so they could have a civilized dicussion. Hijinx comes flying out of the smoke feet first, aiming for pheonix's head.

OOC: If this misses you pheonix, you better have a great reason! :bunny: I don't want to hear anything about you seeing it coming, especially with all the smoke you made.

Gingitsune sighed with exasperation. She had just gotten the hang of navigating through the bamboo forest, and now fire and smoke were added to the tumult and chaos. As the smoke filled the area Gingitsune coughed and choked, finally digging into her obi and pulling out another one of her trademark blue shawls and wrapping it around her head and mouth. The fire was a different issue, and as Gingitsune felt the heat she created a light barrier around her to prevent it. Within a moment the smoke also stopped penetrating and Jocasta raised an eyebrow at Gingi asking, apparently, why she hadn't thought of that in the first place.
As Gingi got her bearings back and once again began to hear the sounds of battle something whooshed past her head, feet forward.
Hijinx
Gingi shook her head and laughed, this should be interesting, that player was either a genius or completely insane. Time would tell which one.
Finally seeing, as well as hearing, the battle Gingitsune leapt forward to a small, sparsely populated grove of bamboos adjacent to the clearing where the battle was taking place. From here she could survey the battle without interfering- until the time was right. Phoenix looked quite desperate against the fluent grace and eloquence of Kurai's movements. The ragged, uncalculated sword strokes were having little effect on the Long Arm...
He has to have a tactic.
They both realized it at the same moment, and Phoenix began to play both defensively and offensively against Kurai, formulating a plan instead of simply attacking.
I hope they're both alright... Gingi thought to herself, as much as she loved fighting, she despised when people that could be allies fought against each other in such a way. Someone was bound to be hurt. She hoped that she could spot the moment when the time came, and cut off the battle before anything bad happened.
Cybelle glowed crimson, and warlike, illuminating the remaining bamboo rods in an eerie, flickering red luminescence.

The amount of Imps had decreased much so, that to a remainder of nearly a dozen left. Argilus was pretty tired and his body was hardly able to move. The Imps seemed to hesitate to come forth due to their remaining numbers, it was only a matter of time before they began pursuing him. Still Argilus caught his breath and wiped the sweat from his forehead. He scanned around for maybe another Imp that wasn't a bogie. He spotted one but he wasn't sure. He figured this one was a normal Imp because of it's sash around it's waist. If he was wrong then it would explode and the rest were to close and they would go with a bang as well. Argilus took in another large sigh, and crept back. Again he bolted forward, his vision nearly fading for a moment, and he made his way into the bunch of Imps, slicing downwards at the imp. Argilus tripped for a seconded, and the imps body began to flash a white light, it prepared to explode. Realizing he had been in error, he sheltered his body crossing both his arms around his face and chest. The blast had been big, as the rest of them exploded among the rest of them. Argilus body flew back several yards. He was aimed towards the door. Closer and closer he got he would slam into it with such force there was no telling in his survival. The door quickly opened and Argilus nearly missed slamming into the door. He faded into the darkness of the door, in which the others had stepped through earlier.

The hospital room was small and bright as the light from the single window near the bed shown through. There a young man, hooked to life monitors and life support laid with his eyes closed. His black hair rugged and his skin pale, a nurse walked on by and peeked in through the door. She hadn't been working there for more than a month but still wondered about this strange guy in the room. Another nurse walked by and noticed her looking at the young man.

"Wondering if you'd seen him before?" She asked her.
"Yes, his face is very familiar, should I know who he is? she questioned.
"I suppose since his mother is that famous actor from the States Robin Wright and his farther Ikechi Ohkama."
"The winning champion Martial artist?"
"Yep." she said with a small sigh
"What's wrong with him?"
"Coma, one of those cases we've been having all over Japan and some in other parts of the world"

They both stopped talking for a moment and went about there business, later in the break room, the curious one couldn't help but ask.

"I've been here for about a month and have any of his parents came by?"
"apparently not, I hear they just don't feel he's really any importance and they just want to keep going on with there lives, they are of course no divorced."
"oh"

The hospital had patients coming in and out of the emergency room. Doctors walking around along with nurses. Down the hall in -Argilus'- room near the bed the patients name. Dominic Ohkama. The heart monitor was slow, but suddenly just then began to beat a little faster and faster.

Another stalk of bamboo fell between Phoenix and Kurai. As the stalk hit the leaf-covered ground, time completely stopped.

Phoenix held his sword out, Its blade reflecting the fire all around. Kurai stood a good distance away, the Treeweaver behind his back, held at an angle, in an almost mockingly calm position. Hijinx was about ten feet above Phoenix's head, her feet aimed for his neck. Kurai watched as Hijinx's hair fluttered upward, and Phoenix just began to blink. Kurai launched himself forward, dashing at a speed close to impossible from any normal Player. His feet barely glided along the firery leaves below, stirring them up in a gust of wind behind him.

Kurai held an arm upward, matching Hijinx's foot pattern, and knelt down a little, bringing his shoulder into the middle of Phoenix's chest. Time sped back up; Phoenix flew backward, Hijinx landed awkwardly in Kurai's hand. Her eyes widened, she wasnt expecting anything of this sort. The Long Arm switched his hand around to the Twin Blade's ankle, and swung Hijinx downward, and back up the other direction, letting the little Twin Blade crash through the bamboo in the opposite direction, cursing all the way to her landing point.

Kurai heard movement from behind; He turned aorund, and found Phoenix back at his feet, a large part in the thick bamboo behind him. He ran forward again, his blade swung back, ready for a slice across Kurai's neck. As the Blademaster charged forward, Kurai quickly spun the Treeweaver around, and held the tip to the ground. He closed his eyes, and merely thought of his next action. He didnt even need to say the words anymore, for it to work. The Treeweaver understood him completely.

Gingitsune made her way through the bamboo, a light barrier keeping the smoke from fouling the air around her. She walked further towards the blazing bamboo, and immediately found Hijinx at her feet, and Phoenix and Kurai up ahead. She watched clearly as Phoenix dashed upon the ever-waiting Kurai, and she saw how horrible the Long Arm's new power was.

Kurai waited for his chance to strike. Phoenix began his swing, almost grinning as Kurai had left his guard down. It was only until he looked into Kurai's eyes, that he realized he made a big mistake.

Kurai thrust the Treeweaver forward, the barbed point driving through Phoenix's ribcage. A sickening pop rang out, uopn the dead silent field. The fire ceased to crackle and pop. Firey leaves fell down like rain all around them. Phoenix swung his swowd limply at Kurai, barely slicing the Long Arm right across the bridge of his nose. Kurai gave the blademaster a look of pity, as the Treeweaver began to drain Phoenix. Phoenix's body began to flicker, and change color. The Treeweaver began to glow a bright green, as binary data began to flow from Phoenix's body, into Kurai's.

Flew forward his image a sudden blur through the thick bamboo forrest. Argilus landed just in front of Phoenix and before Kurai. Kurai's eyes wide in wonder, it was his understanding that he was dead. They both stopped in complete silence, there eyes completely lined with each other. Gingisune could see Argilus now, just ahead standing before Kurai, something caught he eye as well, a trail followed behind him, blood, and lots of it. Argilus clothes were torn and his skin dripping with bruises and cuts.

The data consumption had stopped and Phoenix laid still for the moment he say Argilus image appear, shortly blood splattered a few drops on his check, he wiped it. Realizing it was from Argilus he felt inside of excitement but sympathy.

Kurai's eyes shifted from surprised to disappointing. "Argilus, I had a feeling in the back of my mind that you survived. Although you couldn't of come here alone now could you? Had to bring them along and swarm them into your own problems. Couldn't handle your weight yourself. You truly are no hero." his words were sharp and direct. They were meant to hurt anyone's pride just listening.

"No Kurai, I brought them because I knew that if I was to defeat you, they need to see why I had to defeat you. No more will I play myself out as Argilus, but as Dominic Ohkama." he stated.

Everyone seemed to be puzzled, was this his real life name? Argilus slowly reached down with his right hand reaching slowly to his holster, picking up his blade. He then set it in his mouth, and with his right reached back and held the other twin blade up wide behind his back. Another long silence scene occurred, and with in that ending moment, there was a cling as they both brought there weapons together and both darted back. Argilus reached his left blade up holding no opening to his stance. He could see though there was a small chip in the base of the blade from connecting with the Treeweaver.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;;

"Doctor! Come immediately!" the nurse yelled. She was looking at the heart monitor. His heart rate had sped up to fast. His body was shaking and sweating.

A near by doctor stationed up to the very floor came rushing in, he took a look at the stats and told the nurse to get things ready in case of a heart attack.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;

Kurai came dashing forward swinging the treeweaver behind his head then thrusting it at Argilus. Flipping aside he set a toe on the pole base of it for a moment then, flipped back off of it then skidding back along the ground. He was surprised that Kurai was already bolting at him once more. Argilus reached his left blade up and blocked a quick swipe at the torso. The attack was extremely aggressive and strong, and Argilus was sent back a few steps. Gaining ground he flipped back landing on a large bamboo pole. Then throwing his left blade down at the base of Kurai's feet causing Kurai to leap back into the air, then Argilus taking the other blade from his mouth and throwing that as well. Kurai still in mid air was nearly hit but thrusted backwards doing a back flip. Argilus bounced off the pole and with his right hand arched back and connected with Kurai's left cheek bone. A flash of light crunched into Kurai's vision for a moment and was sent slamming into the ground, and was sent though several plants.

Argilus landed on the ground. Picking up both blades that were stuck in the ground. Argilus watched as Kurai got up and dusted himself off. Argilus raised his right arm, the tatoo looking vines wrapped around it began to glow a neon green and slowly move.

"No more Kurai, this ends here."

Standing in a relaxed manner, hijinx casually dust herself off and flashes gingitsune a smile. It had been a while since she'd had a decent fight. Still, this was not the time and the place didn't inspire her to do anything that might involve trying. Yawning and stretching her arms she cracks her neck for the nth time. This fight wouldn't really matter in the end. Besides, that feeling was coming over her again, and they would probably be able to relax a little before it happened. The only question was if the others would be capable of handling it. With another stomach wrenching pop she cracks her furry knuckles and seats herself next to gingitsune and watches with disinterest as argilus and kurai go about their business.

Phoenix felt the Treeweaver going into his ribcage. He couldn't even scream in pain from the attack since his energy was being drained from his body. He used the remaining of his energy in a final swing hoping to get Kurai's head but it was useless as he managed to avoid the swing. Phoenix felt now that his data was being transferred to Kurai. He couldn't move or talk but he was conscious and felt intense pain of the attack. The others were probably thinking that there is no pain to the Data Drain but it was there just couldn't let out a scream of pain.

His vision was beginning to go in and out as the battle torn Argilus made his appearance in front of him. At that point, Phoenix's data transfer stopped but the damage was done. He fell to the ground since all of his energy was being used to remain conscious but even then he may have a minute or two before going into unconsciousness. He heard Agilus spoke to Kurai and seemed that the reason why the group was here to see Kurai's defeat by Argilus. Even now as I laid on the ground, I still hate Argilus. He risked the lives of everyone here just to watch him to defeat Kurai. He may have brought us here but it was me for my current condition now. I can't change who I'm now since I will be dead in a couple of minutes. I can't keep my eyes open no more...

At that point, Phoenix's eyes closed while Kurai and Argilus were fighting in the forest of bamboo. Suzaku immediately went towards Phoenix's body and tried to use Repth to heal the damage caused by Kurai's Data Drain but it didn't work. Phoenix was not responding to the heal spell at all just making his body glow blue each time that the spell was used. Then, she cried out his name but nobody could understand what she was saying since it came out as a sheek of pain. Suzaku really cared about Phoenix and was powerless to protect him but wasn't about to give up on him now. She tried to contact him through the mental rapport that they developed but with no response. She was about to lay next to his head when she felt something in Phoenix's head but it was something that she did not count on. It was not Phoenix's mind but another mind that she did not recognize. Suzaku realized that she couldn't reach Kazuma but maybe this mysterious presence can. She placed all hope on the presence to bring Phoenix back from his comatose state.

Gingitsune's violet eyes widened as Argilus stepped into the bamboo grove just as Gingitsune was about to step forward to aid Phoenix. The sickening colour of Phoenix's draining skin had sent a chilling shock through Cybele, the war-like tension was increasing, and Gingitsune had know it was time to intervene...
Kurai and Argilus battling.

The thought brought a heart-wrenching sensibility to Gingitsune, they had been friends when the ordeal had began, they had been a duo, Argilus and Kurai...

They had all had someone, someone they had been close to- and now it seemed like all old alliances had been broken, by death, desertion, and bad luck. The game was like the real world, in the beginning she had started it as a way to escape reality, the drawn characters were only what you wanted them to be, their personalities could be anybody's, and friendships lasted either only as long as you were online, or forever, it only depended on how you felt... Things didn't change as rapidly as outside. Yet now it seemed like everything was the real world, except much worse, not only was there change but there was so much more to influence it. Evil existed here as it did not in the real world, as a pure untainted force that sucked in the unsuspecting...Why did it have to be this way? Why did they have to be in comas, somewhere out there, in hospitals covered in IVs and heart monitors, with naught but nurses for companions. And what did anyone feel up there anymore? Nothing but pity for them, but pity does nothing. In reality no one knew the battle they were fighting here in this "game," they did not know that the coma victims they so pitied were engaged in a battle- a war- for their lives.
There was nothing safe about their situations...

As Argilus stated his real name Gingitsune realized just how disattached from reality they truly were, she had not thought of herself as anyone but Gingitsune for a long time. Rosalind Lysander... The name sounded completely alien to her. A brief smile swept over her face as she thought about it, how easy it was to forget a name that she had had for 17 years...

She snapped back to attention as Hijinx interrupted her thoughts, "I'm sorry, I zoned out I suppose..."

Her attention quickly wavered back to the battle before her, Argilus and Kurai... She hoped, somehow, that it could yet be resolved without a fight. Yet, it seemed that it was almost impossible now, and a part of her told her not to intervene, not this time. This was between Argilus and Kurai, they had been friends and then enemies, and they had to resolve it... it was no place of hers to interfere now. Cybele calmed slightly, it was in her power to stop this if things went badly though, she still refused to see anymore death in her ranks... there was too much at stake to die in this way.

Now Argilus raising his left blade up waved it in front of Kurai, taunting him. Kurai glared giving a sudden smirk, that would only reflect Argilus taunt. Kurai noticed right right arm beginning to glow and the marking swirl and wrap around. Again Argilus bolted ahead, leaping up swiping down on Kurai. He only side stepped the attack smacking the butt end of the Treeweaver into the back of his head. Argilus dove forwards into a brief roll which he flung out of and snapped backwards to counter, but the blade of the Treeweaver nearly sliced his skull open if he hadn't ducked into. Once more he went for a roll and stopped in mid roll, allowing his body into a tight ball. Argilus sprung like a spring sending a foot into the peek of Kurai's chin. As they both flew up wards Argilus bent his head back seeing Kurai' erect foot in Horizontal lines with his face. In mid-flight he grabbed his foot and snapped inward sending Kurai bouncing off a few bamboo tree's. Argilus landed flipping a blade around showing off.

"Like that?!" he asked. Kurai was just getting up dusting himself off once more and wiping a small drop of blood from his nose. Kurai dashed ahead swiping again at Argilus. Argilus fell back and landed a few feet to the side. Kurai turned and waited. Getting up, he was to a halt, Arg couldn't get up. He looked down to what was denying him to the ability to stand. His right hand was covered with plant life, which was welded in the ground. His arm had sprouted now against his own will. At first he was worried that it had done this all to it's own, but then turned and face Kurai, giving a smile.

"I think you need some of your own medicine Kurai!" He shouted, the ground began to rumble underneath Arg, then as the vines from his arms kept feeding into the ground a line parted where the vines shot towards Kurai. A attack not seen by anyone. The Vines under the ground rapidly shot at Kurai, but Kurai just stood there, he raised his Tree Weaver and the tunneling stopped. They were at a halt, for a moment, then began tunneling again back the other way. They swiftly shot at everyone who was standing near by, as they back of many tunneling vines.

"Everyone, get off the ground!" Argilus warned, but the vines shot from the ground at directed each pointed vine at everyone who was there.

What's this... It seems that I'm falling but there's nothing here but complete whiteness. I don't even see my own body here. I wonder if this is the beginning of moving the soul to a higher plane...

As Phoenix made that thought, the whiteness that surround his noncorporal soul began to fade out and stone walls, floor, and ceiling were taking its place. The place that was forming was a regular dungeon room within the World but this dungeon brought a familiar feeling to Phoenix as his body regain its corporal shape. Along with Phoenix's body being reform, four Snip Snaps and a white knight with a giant sword appeared in the dungeon room.

No, why this memory have to be replay? Maybe I can change the outcome of this memory. Phoenix tried to move his body but with no avail as the white knight managed to defeat the four Snip Snaps with ease but their corpses didn't disappear like a normal monster. At that time, he didn't know why the bodies didn't vanished from the room. He had to warn the white knight about the danger that lied ahead but he couldn't speak. A blacken swordmaniod appeared in front of the white knight and easily managed to block the knight's attacks. Phoenix continued to try to move or talk as he knew what will happen next. The corpses of the snip snaps melted into a gel and covered the white knight. The gel sap the white knight's energy causing him to fall onto the floor. The blacken swordmaniod pick up the white knight and put him on its shoulder. It also pick up the knight's sword and disappear from the room.

The dungeon began to take upon a different shape as the stones were being transformed into marble. Phoenix knew this memory all to well and it was going to be painful to watch again. Phoenix's body was on the ground and unable to move or speak again. There were two cat characters and two other players appear in the room. One was a heavy blade while the other player was a twin blade who both belong to the Fatal Exception. The memory started as the cat characters both attacked the heavy blade and Phoenix. Phoenix avoided the attack but he couldn't prevent the tragedy that was about to happen. The heavy blade didn't have enough time to avoid the attack but the twin blade dove in front of the attack and was turned into a cat himself.

The marble dungeon was fading away and the town of Mac Anu appeared in its wake. This memory was very recent as the group managed to fight off Gem and Eye only to have Kamui and a squad of wavemasters waiting to destroy them at their weakened state. Phoenix remembered what came next as Asgard was hit by a Data Drain attack from Kamui. The thought sent chills to Phoenix as he just experienced something similar from Kurai. Suddenly, the town faded away and the whiteness from before had return but Phoenix could still see his body.

"Why I'm being reminded of these painful memories? This isn't the type of thing that I want to be reminded of before I died. Where's all the happy things that occured in my life. WHERE ARE THEY?" Phoenix said very angrily and broke into tears. "Why torture my soul? Have I tried to do the right thing? I just wanted to save people not have people to be in pain under my watch."

"Because you have lost your way."

Phoenix recognized the voice that he just heard just now. It was his childhood friend, Shinto. Shinto appeared in front of Phoenix and said, "Hellp, Kazuma. This isn't your time to die. You have so much potential but if you cannot find your way once again, you will die. Phoenix looked at his body and noticed that he was a child once again. He spoke to Shinto and said, "Help me, Shinto."

(OOC: Some of this is from some of my past subplot quests. I'm not sure if the quests are still there but IM me if you want the quests since I have them saved.)

Nighthand appeared in the outer room, in a scene of carnage. It looks like somehow, they got ALL of the imps... there was nothing left.

Nighthand looked around, and, seeing no one, stepped through to door.

Appearing inside the room, nighthand was surprised to find the room covered in bamboo, fire, and smoke.

He knew he would likely not get back in time to help in the battle... but he could sense them all on the horizon. The largest energy that didn't feel evil, he recognized as Cybele... so he headed for it, slowly making his way through the bamboo.
